Three-dimensional cell and organelle models provide a new perspective on the structure and function of typical plant and animal cells and their associated organelles.
Features include challenging interactive quizzes, electron micrograph scans, microscope images and a virtual microscope.
Module 1 - Introduction to the Cell Living and non-living cells, size and diversity, where cells are found, levels of organisation, microscope technique, prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.
Module 2 - Plant and Animal Cells Typical plant and animal cells and their organelles including the nucleus, mitochondria, ribosomes, vacuoles, cell wall, chloroplasts, lysosomes, centrioles, golgi apparatus, cell membrane and endoplasmic reticulum.
Module 3 - Cell Processes Active and passive processes including osmosis and diffusion; cellular respiration, photosynthesis, enzymes, mitosis, protein synthesis and tissue staining.
